Town Begins Search for Next Police Chief as Anthony Pesare Retires

Anthony Pesare will retire after 14 years as chief of police in Middletown. The search for a replacement has begun. Pesare has served as the town’s ninth police chief and led the department through advanced accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in 2014. Nationwide only 10% of law enforcement agencies hold this distinction.
The Middletown police chief leads a full-service department of 38 full-time sworn officers and 4 full-time civilian personnel including the functions of the harbormaster and animal control.
